Book Description
This book features photographs taken mostly around Whitstable, Tankerton and Herne Bay. These are well-known North Kent coast holiday resorts in the South-East of England. Most of the pictures were taken in the public domain between 2003 and 2006. They are off-beat and thoughtful and look at the eccentricities of the Great British Seaside. There are also classic night shots, snow scenes and a sunset or two, of course, since the town was made famous by the artist Turner.
David Rose is a professional photographer and author who lived in Tankerton-on-Sea between 1999 and 2006. His pictures hang in many places in Kent, including Debenhams stores at Canterbury and Westwood Cross, at the King's Hall, Herne Bay and Westgate Hall, Canterbury. His photographs, from a bank robbery "scoop", to sunset pictures were published regularly by the local newspapers, particularly the Whitstable Times.
The theme of this volume of photographs is seasonal. There are notes about the pictures at the end of each section.
"David's pictures are great," said Harbour Books manageress Liz at the book's launch. "We shall feature it in our window and we have no doubt it will be an all-year seller. Local pictures are popular and we don't have enough in book form."
